AI in Australian Tax Practice Webinar
A recap of our live demo and practical Q & A.
Accountants are asking how to use AI safely, how to check accuracy, and where it genuinely saves time. In our recent webinar we walked through Praxio AI - Tax Assistant in a live setting and answered those questions with real examples from day to day practice.

Why we built Praxio AI Tax Assistant
We built Praxio AI - Tax Assistant to solve a specific and persistent problems in Australian public practices. Practitioners spend too much time stitching together technical research across legislation, rulings, and commentary, then rewriting it into clear client language, while trying to maintain a solid audit trail and protect client confidentiality. General AI tools are not designed for this. They can be useful for brainstorming, but they do not meet the evidentiary and governance standards expected in professional practice.
Praxio AI – Tax Assistant focuses on the things that matter to accountants. Evidence backed research, client ready drafts you can review, an audit ready history, and controls you can explain to clients and partners.
Our guiding principles
Credible sources only
Research is grounded in Australian legislation and ATO guidance and administrative materials. Examples include Tax Rulings, Practical Compliance Guidelines, Interpretative Decisions, Law Companion Rulings, Practice Statements, and Private Binding Rulings. Citations and links are included so you can click through and check.
Human in the loop
Praxio AI – Tax Assistant supports the practitioner. It does not replace professional judgement. You review the research and the client draft before it is sent. The platform does not send advice to clients on your behalf.
Transparent and auditable
Your full chat history is saved. You can see what was asked, what changed, and why the answer evolved. This supports internal review and quality assurance.
Interactive by design
You can add facts and ask follow up questions. The system also asks clarifying questions when it detects gaps or ambiguity so the research can be tightened before you send advice.
Privacy and security first
Data is encrypted in transit with modern TLS including TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES 256. Our framework aligns to SOC 2 style controls. Your content is not used to train upstream models. You can download or delete your data at any time.
Efficiency and profitability
Reduce time spent on technical research and redrafting so teams can focus on higher value work. Improve recovery and utilisation, make fixed fee work more viable, and increase throughput without compromising quality or compliance.
What the session covered
We focused on practical usage over theory. The demo showed how a practitioner can move from a client scenario to evidence backed research and a client ready draft in minutes, while keeping an auditable trail and clear source citations.
Highlights included
How to brief the system with plain English facts and the desired outcome
How Praxio AI – Tax Assistant returns research with links to legislation and ATO guidance for instant verification
How the chat saves your history so reviewers can see the reasoning and changes over time
How to review a client ready draft side by side with the technical research note
How security and privacy controls protect client information
The essence of the demo
We began with a simple client scenario and added facts as the analysis progressed. Praxio AI – Tax Assistant produced research with citations to legislation and ATO materials so attendees could check the sources immediately. We refined the analysis by adding assumptions and clarifying facts. The system also asked targeted questions where it saw uncertainty. Finally we reviewed two outputs. A client ready draft that could be emailed. A technical research note that serves as an internal work paper.
Key takeaways for firms
Start with routine work
Begin with tasks that are already in your workflow. Summarising rulings, checking conditions for concessions, and turning technical notes into clear client language are quick wins.
Always verify sources
Treat AI as a research assistant. Follow the links, confirm the citations, and keep professional judgement at the centre. Praxio AI - Tax Assistant makes this easy by providing citations and an audit ready history.
Use the chat to improve quality
Iterate as you would with a colleague. Add facts, change assumptions, and explore alternatives. The system will also prompt you with clarifying questions where it can sharpen the research.
Separate client communication from the technical file
Send the client ready draft externally and retain the technical research note internally. This keeps advice clear for clients and maintains a robust file for quality review.
Keep client data safe
Adopt tools and processes that protect confidentiality. Praxio AI - Tax Assistant uses encryption, model isolation, and alignment to recognised controls. Customer content is not used to train upstream models.
Questions we addressed live
How do I control tone and level of detail?
You can request plain language, bullet points, or a more formal style. You can also set and reuse your preferred templates.
Can I rely on AI for final answers?
Use outputs as research and draft language. You remain the professional providing the advice. The workflow is designed to support human review and sign off.
How does this fit with privacy and ethics
We recommend internal guidelines that cover acceptable use, verification, and client confidentiality. The platform supports that with audit history and secure handling of content.
Who the webinar was for
Public practice accountants and tax advisers in Australia. The content is most relevant to sole practitioners through to mid sized firms that want to speed up research without sacrificing quality control or security.
